About Us
Learn more about the Tamil Promotion Committee’s mission, journey, and efforts to promote Tamil within the community.
The Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee (TLLPC) was established in February 2006 to rally the support of Tamil community organisations in promoting the use of the Tamil language beyond the classroom, while supporting the teaching and learning of Tamil in schools. Over the years, the Committee has collaborated with various partners to organise a wide range of programmes that encourage the use and appreciation of Tamil within the community.
In view of TLLPC’s 20th anniversary, the Committee has been renamed the Tamil Promotion Committee (TPC) in March 2026. This reflects its continued commitment to strengthening the presence and use of Tamil across diverse community spaces, while remaining aligned with its core mission.
The Committee provides opportunities for students, teachers, and the wider Tamil community to use and learn the language in diverse contexts. It continually explores innovative ways to inspire the community to connect with their heritage and deepen their cultural values through the Tamil language.
The Tamil Promotion Committee (TPC) strives to promote Tamil as a living language among future generations. It also works towards strengthening Tamil as a vibrant part of Singapore’s identity as a multicultural and global city. Through meaningful collaborations with Tamil organisations and community partners, the Committee seeks to keep the language relevant, dynamic, and thriving for years to come.
