Overview
The Most Inspiring Tamil Teachers’ Award (MITT) 2025 recognised four Tamil Language teachers for their outstanding contributions to the teaching and learning of the Tamil Language. In addition to the MITT Award recipients, one teacher was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, while another teacher received the Best National Institute of Education (NIE) Tamil Trainee Teacher Award.
The ceremony celebrated educators whose passion, commitment, and innovative practices continue to nurture students’ love for Tamil and strengthen language learning experiences.
Purpose of the Award
Jointly organised by Tamil Murasu, the Singapore Tamil Teachers’ Union (STTU), and the Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee (TLLPC), the MITT Award recognises Tamil Language teachers who demonstrate stellar performance in:
Educating students in the Tamil Language
Promoting the active use and appreciation of Tamil
Leveraging technology creatively to enhance teaching and learning
Serving as role models within the teaching fraternity
Each award recipient received a plaque, a certificate of achievement, and a cash grant in recognition of their contributions.
Nomination and Selection Process
All Tamil Language teachers in local mainstream schools were eligible for nomination.
Between February and April 2025, a total of 543 nominations for 180 teachers were received, reflecting strong community support and appreciation for Tamil Language educators.

Significance
Since its inception in 2002, the MITT Award has affirmed the contributions of over 200 inspiring Tamil Language educators across primary and secondary schools, junior colleges, and the Millennia Institute. These educators continue to play a vital role in nurturing students’ love for the Tamil Language and advancing quality Tamil Language education in Singapore.
